Update (3/29/26): At capacity, price change, & wait list
At capacity: Due to overwhelming interest in electronics repair, the shop is at full capacity. In order to fulfill repairs for current customers, I can’t take any new drop-offs until June 6th, 2026 (“reopening”). I will still be at the shop during regular hours for most of that time.
Price change: I will be raising the price of inspection and labor by $5 on future repairs. This is to help cover rent, utilities, and other shop investments. I have become faster at many repairs, so this shouldn’t increase the cost to customers are much as it seems.
Wait list (old price): If you send me an email, text, or call to be put on the wait list, I’ll charge that item(s) at the old rate ($25 inspection, $20/hr). I’ll be able to receive your item(s) from June 6th onward.
About Us
I started Ypsi/Arbor Electronics Repair in 2022 as a side gig with the aim to reduce electronics waste and save people money. I have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and over ten years of experience in the automotive industry. Much of that has been electrical-oriented.
I work on a wide range of electronic devices, not limited to the following:
• TVs (55″ or smaller): power and LCD backlight issues
• Video games: consoles, controllers, & retro handhelds
• Small Appliances (not microwaves)
• Stereos, tape decks, DVD/CD Players, & Radios
• Bluetooth speakers
Scroll to the bottom for various other successful repairs. If you have a faulty device, just ask!
However, I do NOT currently service the following:
• Smartphones (Apple, Android)
• Tablets (Apple, Android, Amazon, Samsung, etc.)
• Computer SSD/HDD replacement or software/registry cleanup
• Data recovery
• Receivers (audio amplifiers)
• Headphones (for most noise cancelling devices, I recommend JoesGE.com for repair)
There are other shops in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area that are much more familiar with those devices and services.

hours
My regular business hours are as follows:
Weekdays (Wednesday & Thursday): 7pm – 9pm
Saturday: 11am – 3pm
I generally do not answer my phone outside of regular business hours. However, feel free to send a text message or voicemail and I’ll get back to you when I get a chance.
rates (changing June 6th)
I charge an initial diagnosis/inspection fee of $25 (per device), and then $20 per hour after that, plus the cost of parts. Some small issues can be fixed within inspection/diagnosis without extra labor charge.
Typical repairs cost between $45 and $100, but each job is different. Also, some repairs have set prices, like game console HDMI port replacement or TV backlight problems.
If I cannot fix the device, or if you choose not to go through with the repair, I just charge the diagnosis/inspection fee ($25).
Location, Pickup, & drop-off
The shop is at 2512 Carpenter Rd, Ste 201-B2, Ann Arbor. It’s right next to Red Lobster.
Most drop-offs and pick-ups are at the shop during during posted business hours (above). For unusual circumstances, like working with another business whose hours don’t overlap at all, I can drive out to pick up and drop off items. For each trip out, I charge based on the following formula:
2 * ( ( ( travel time [min] / 60 ) * $20 ) + ( distance [miles] * $0.725 ) )
I use Google Maps to find the fastest travel time and distance from 2512 Carpenter. I’m charging $20 per hour for driving, plus using the 2025 federal gas mileage rate of $0.725 per mile.
Example:
Traveling to Depot Town takes 12 minutes and is 4.4 miles away, so I would charge $14.38 per trip. Both picking up and dropping off would cost $28.76, on top of the inspection fee and any additional labor.
